~FAQS~
How long is the trip?
The tour lasts from 1 hour & 15 minutes to 1-1/2 hours in length. It just depends on the river traffic and you. We really cater to our groups interests! You and the group you are touring with may want to spend a little more time looking at something such as a point of interest or animal. And that's okay because we are all about quality & not quantity at Captain Ron's Original Dells Jet Boats. Our Captain's love the river & an interactive group!
Do you have several places in the Dells where we can purchase tickets?
No, just two locations. Right where you board our boats! & at Cafe Duck at 1010 Wis. Dells Pkwy. Please don't let any of the information booths downtown confuse you. We are not affiliated with any other company that started jet boat tours up after us. If you call 608-254-8246 we can give you directions from any location.
Are reservations required?
That depends. If you purchased tickets online or have a gift certificate then reservations are required. Otherwise, walk-ups are welcome! However, we do advise making reservations since it is such a popular tour with limited seating.
What are your reservation policies?
If you make a reservation than you are required to be at our ticket booth 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. If you are late then we will sell your seats to the next person in line.
Am I required to reserve with a credit card?
Only if you are touring with us during our spring & fall season, or if you have a group of 8 or more in your party.
Will you charge my credit card if I leave it for a group of 8 or more?
Only if you don't show up or if you don't cancel 24 hours prior to departure. You will then be charged for whatever tickets we don't sell.
How wet will I get?
That depends on where you sit in the boat and on the river & weather conditions. We tell everyone to be prepared to get wet and possibly soaked. Your Captain will maneuver the boat into 360 degree spins & power stops, which will bring quite a bit of water spray into the boat.
Will I get as wet in the spring & fall months?
No, you will not get as much water in the boat during the spring & fall months, but we cannot control river conditions so please prepare for some water spray. Typically it is cooler in a jet boat because we are an open & fast boat, so we do suggest wearing layers.
How many people does the boat hold?
Our largest boat is licensed for 48 passengers. However, people are all different sizes so we may not get that many on a boat. Our Captain's will load the boats according to comfort and space. We are concerned about the best trip possible for you & less concerned about packing as many people as possible on one boat.
Can my baby take the tour?
Of course! We have had both of our little girls on the boat from the time they were infants. It is perfectly safe for little ones. The youngest we ever had on the boat was only 3 weeks old! If you want to bring your car seat then you may. Life jackets are not required, but if you would feel more comfortable putting your child in one, then you can either bring your own or we can provide a child life jacket for you. Ask your Captain for tips on holding on to the little ones, and have a great time. Jet boat parenting tip: I always bring a sippy cup with a beverage of their choice, a small snack, sunscreen, hat, and a towel or small rain jacket just in case your child is a little nervous about the water spray.
Can seniors ride?
Yes, we even offer a 25% discount on all senior trips. The eldest that we've had touring with us was 94 years young. Please, keep in mind that the ride can be bumpy at times so we do advise that all passengers be aware that this is a thrill ride and they will need to use their best judgment where it concerns their own health. Be prepared to hang on during our spinouts and powers stops.
Can pregnant people ride?
We have had many pregnant women on the boat during all stages of their pregnancy. However, please remember that this can be a bumpy boat ride at times & every pregnancy is different. We do ask that you consult your doctor before touring with us. If you get the green light from the doctor then please let us know and we will accommodate you accordingly.
Can I ride with a bad back?
No, we do not advise it. Again, any medical conditions should be consulted with your doctor first. Please explain to him that it may be a bumpy ride at times.
How fast will we go?
The tour is 50% fast and 50% slow. During our fast times the boat can reach speeds up to 45 mph. During the slow time you will learn all about the rock formations, history on the lumberjacks, Wisconsin River, Native Americans, local legends and more.
How much horsepower can you provide?
Our Miss Dells have 1200 h.p.
Will I get seasick?
Probably not. The boat is an all-open boat & more like riding in a convertible. In our 14 years of operation, we've only had two people ever get sick.
Does the tour return to the same departure point?
Yes, we leave from our docks located at the Sandstone Pub & Grill & return to the same docks at the end of the tour.
Are there bathrooms on the boat?
No, bathrooms are located at the ticket booth.
Once we get out on the water will your Captain try to sell us stuff?
No, unlike the other tours in the Dells, you get what you pay for at the ticket booth. A great ride without hidden fees or pressure. So just sit back relax & enjoy your tour.
Even though we aren't expected to buy anything is it still customary to tip the Captain?
That is entirely up to you & not a requirement. If you enjoyed your tour & wish to leave him a tip then you may do so in person at the end of the trip. If you left your money dry in the car then you can leave it in the Captain's tip jar at the ticket booth.
Are you on the Upper or Lower Dells?
We are located on the Upper Dells, which is above the Dam. Just 3 miles north of Wisconsin Dells & behind Black Hawk's Island.
If you have any questions, please email us at contactus@dellsjetboats.com. We would be happy to add them to our FAQS page.
We would like to Thank all of our wonderful return guests for their

Without you this tour would not be possible!
